Welcome to Irish beer mats.org
In 1997 The Irish Beer mats went on-line. It was a portal to show off some of my Guinness beer mats and other Irish brewery beer mats that I have collected over the past 30 years. I thought it’s a shame to have a collection that only I would see. So I went and bought a scanner and started to scan most of my Guinness beer mats. Anyway one thing lead to another, and now I use the website to collect new Guinness beer mats, and to put other people in touch with Brewerana clubs and collectors around the world. I have always been fascinated by advertising and graphic design; I guest that’s maybe how I landed up choosing Guinness. However I am a Guinness drinker and I have spent 7 years living over in County Kerry on the Dingle Peninsula, so maybe that had something to do with it! Guinness like all the big breweries sells their stout all over the world, and with that comes advertising. Guinness has many advertising campaigns running through out the world to promote Guinness Draught, Guinness Red, Guinness Extra Cold, Guinness Malta, Kaliber and Harp. Guinness also sponsors many festivals and sporting events around the world, and so they print beer mats to go with all these events. Guinness also issues beer mats for other annual events such as Halloween Night , Christmas, and lets not forget the most celebrated Irish event of the year 'Saint Patrick's Day' Last year alone Guinness issued 145 different kinds of beer mats worldwide. That’s 1 every four days of the year. So tracking them down for my collection is a real mission. Even Guinness or Diageo don't keep records of beer mats they have printed. And so by having this website I can get the help of you and other people like you around the world who come across this website. I also have the help of other beer mat collectors living in other countries, but they don’t live everywhere! Hopefully by Christmas 2008 all of my Guinness beer mats will be on-line. So if they are not on-line , then it’s a good chance I will require the Guinness beer mat. Over the years I have missed many good Guinness beer mats to be only lost or thrown away in the bin forever. At the end of day, they are only there to soak spilt beer and advertise Guinness. I am always on the looking out for Guinness beer mats from Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. If
you are a collector of Guinness beermats and would like to swap or trade mats, please email at the address below. Enjoy Guinness, Enjoy Life!
